QUARRY HOUSE
BERARD MARTEL ARCHITECTURE, INC.
Perched on a granite precipice over a spring fed quarry pond is the original 1950's praire/modernist glass 'wedge' house with additions and a complete renovation that results in a spacious, fully updated expansion to the original theme. The long sloping roofline of the original structure becomes the organizing element for the assemblage of new construction, which steps the topography. The locally quarried stone base anchors the building to the granite quarry ledge. Every effort was made to integrate the multiple priorities in the design agenda: strictly maintain the original style, take advantage of the views and deliver a cost effective, site sensitive solution.
