 Thornwood
Commons
Location: Dover,
New Hampshire
Project Size:
100+ acres
Estimated
Project Value: N/A
Thornwood Commons, located in Dover, New Hampshire is
a mixed-use project. The
main goal of this project is to create series of smaller
neighborhoods that also provides a central location for the existing
surrounding neighborhoods to join the retail, commercial, and food
activities that the commons would offer.
The 100 acre plus property has numerous building types
envisioned, including a bank, car dealership, congregate housing
campus, medical office, multiple office buildings, restaurant,
retail plaza, single-family housing and more.
The overall project theme is based on a traditional New
England image. Elements
of this style are brick and clapboard faced walls, pitched roofs,
window and roof dormers, punched windows with occasional larger
feature windows, and wide-open spaces.
The new retail and office buildings will assist
in boosting the economy of the city of Dover.
They will offer job opportunities, shorter commutes, and a
strong central focus for everyone.
The commons will also provide socializing space and provide
opportunities for the neighborhoods to be closer together.
A planned outdoor
walking trail, gazebo and family gathering space would complement
the existing natural features.
An existing dam would be rebuilt, stabilizing the pond to
recapture the existing nature and beauty of the surrounding
landscape.
