In 1993, Lee established Lee M. Berard + Consultants, Inc. after serving as Owner/Principal for Team Design in Londonderry, NH. Shortly after the firm's creation, Rob Martel joined on as an active Owner/Architect/Principal. In 1999, the firm's name was officially changed to Berard Martel Architecture, Inc. to recognize Rob's partnership with Lee.
