QUARRY HOUSE

Milford, NH

Perched on a granite precipice over a quarry pond is the original 1950’s prairie/modernist glass ‘wedge’ house with additions and a complete renovation that results in a spacious, fully updated expansion to the original theme. The long sloping roofline of the original structure becomes the organizing element for the new construction, which steps along the topography.

The locally quarried stone anchors the building to the quarry edge. Every effort was made to integrate the multiple priorities in the design agenda: strictly maintain the original style, take advantage of the views and deliver a cost effective, site sensitive solution.
